Bagging Guidelines
Updated over a week ago

Ensuring the safety of your package relies on adequate bag packaging, as any mishandling during transport can undermine the precautions taken by the shipper/sender, resulting in product damage and potential contamination risks. Therefore, comprehending the principles of bagging is essential for safeguarding your package.

You will learn the following:

What is Bagging?

Bagging is a process used by logistics service providers to improve efficiency. It involves grouping shipments bound for the same destination and Network Partners (NPs), allowing more efficient loading onto trucks or containers and optimising space utilisation.

  • One advantage of logistics bagging is enhanced shipment protection. By consolidating shipments, logistics providers can ensure proper securing and minimise the risk of damage during transportation, which is especially crucial for fragile or valuable items.

  • Another benefit is improved accountability. Assigning unique identifiers or tracking numbers to each shipment enables better tracking throughout the logistics process. This benefit reduces the chances of lost or misplaced items, ensuring reliable and traceable delivery.

Bagging Process

The bagging process involves a few steps to ensure the efficient handling and sorting of inbound parcels in the origin warehouse. Here is a brief explanation of each step:

  • Inbound

It is crucial to exercise utmost caution when dealing with incoming packages to avoid any potential harm or misplacement. As part of the inbound procedure, parcels are received at the source warehouse and sorted into 'Pick Up' or 'Drop Shipment'.

  • Checking

This process involves meticulously examining the incoming packages to ensure they correspond with the provided packing list. The parcels are then categorised per individual client, establishing distinct areas for each and facilitating easy identification. Moreover, the integrity of each box is carefully assessed, and any instances of damage are promptly communicated to the operations team.

  • Sorting

The sorting process entails utilising the Luwjistik client portal, where the logistics team gains access and navigates to the 'Partner Bagging' section. The portal has a designated tab labelled 'Unbagged,' which exhibits the categorised orders. These orders undergo an algorithmic sorting procedure, organising them into bins according to their destination, customs prerequisites, and last-mile partner.

Note: It is important to note that low-value and high-value items should be placed in separate bags to ensure proper handling and security.

By following these steps, the logistics bagging process ensures that inbound parcels are accurately checked, sorted, and prepared for further transportation, ultimately contributing to an efficient and reliable logistics operation.

Sacks Used in Luwjistik Bagging Process

Luwjistik incorporates sacks as an essential component in the process of bagging. These sacks are engineered to endure transportation challenges, safeguarding the contents from external elements such as rough treatment, humidity, and particulate matter. This durability guarantees the preservation and integrity of the transported goods throughout the logistics expedition, thereby reducing the chances of loss or deterioration.

The condition of the sack plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods. Here are some critical aspects of sack conditions for the bagging process:

  • Clean and intact: The sack should be clean and undamaged, without dirt or tears.

  • Structural integrity: The bag should be strong enough to hold the intended weight without breaking.

  • Material quality: The bag should be durable for transporting products.

  • Size and capacity: The bag should be the right size to fit the goods comfortably without straining it.

  • Labelling and identification: The bag should have clear markings for easy identification and tracking.

  • Compliance with regulations: The bag should meet relevant standards or certifications as required.

  • Suitable for stacking and palletising: The bag should be designed for stable stacking and easy handling.

How to Prepare Shipments for Bagging?

Preparing shipments for logistics bagging involves organising and packaging items efficiently to ensure they are protected during transportation and can be:

  • Gather materials: Get shipping bags/boxes, bubble wrap, tape, labels, and any necessary packaging materials.

  • Sort items: Organise the parcels based on the country destination, shipment value, and de minimis value.

  • Protect fragile items: Wrap them individually in bubble wrap or foam and secure them with tape.

  • Arrange packages: Stack them neatly in logistics bags.

  • Fill empty spaces: Use packing peanuts or crumpled paper to fill bag gaps.

  • Seal bags: Close openings securely with tape.

  • Label shipments: Attach clear shipping labels with the recipient's address and handling instructions.

What Should I Do Next?

After finishing the bagging process, it is essential to ensure the bags proceed to the following designated Network Partner (NP). For instance, if you began with our Freight Forwarde (FF) service, kindly hand over your parcel to our FF NP. Conversely, if you initiate with our Clearnce CC service, ensure it is handed over to the CC destination.

Note: This Bagging process is applicable only for Luwjistik Modular Client
